Vacancy Description: Teacher
The Greek School of St Athanasios in Cambridge, UK, is currently seeking highly motivated and passionate Teachers to join our team and play a vital role in shaping our students' learning.
This is a part-time, hourly-paid position based on the Annual Class Plan (typically Saturdays or weekday sessions). The role will be based at Bewick Bridge Community Primary School (CB1 9ND) or the Greek School of St. Athanasios (CB1 7AJ).
Role Overview
The Teacher acts as a role-model at all times by living and breathing the values of the Greek School of St. Athanasios: respect, integrity, and community engagement. The successful candidate will report and be accountable to the Head Teacher and the Greek School Committee for the quality of lessons, materials, planned activities, and student outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver lessons according to the official Curriculum, under the guidance of the Head Teacher.
- Prepare appropriate learning materials (worksheets, handouts) and accommodate students' varying abilities.
- Use a variety of assessment and reporting methods to regularly monitor learning progress and provide positive feedback.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers, including participating in parents' consultations twice per Academic Year.
- Maintain good order and discipline, supporting positive behaviour, and safeguarding students' health and safety.
2. General Operations & Administration
- Register and monitor the attendance of students.
- Undertake student supervision duties, along with Site Officers, during lesson breaks to secure children's safety.
- Attend school briefings, meetings, and training to support the school's needs and ongoing professional development.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team with teachers, teaching assistants, volunteers, and the School Committee.
- Participate in the organisation of the school’s celebrations and cultural events.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of both Greek and English.
- Degree in Education, Greek Philology, or a similar field.
- Experience in teaching Greek as a second/foreign/heritage language.
- Experience working with students across various age ranges and partnering with parents to support student outcomes.
- Good communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Enthusiasm, reliability, integrity, and a passion for education.
- Right to work in the UK (Pre-settled or Settled Status).
- Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding children certificate (the School will cover the cost if a new application is required).
Desirable Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Further qualification in a related area (e.g., MEd, MA).
- First Aid Certificate.

Vacancy Description: Site Caretaker
The Greek School of St Athanasios in Cambridge, UK, is currently seeking a highly motivated Site Caretaker to support the smooth operation and safety of the school. This is a part-time, hourly-paid position, primarily on Saturdays from 8:15 am to 5:45 pm. The role will be based at Bewick Bridge Community Primary School, Fulbourn Old Drift, CB1 9ND.
Role Overview
The Site Caretaker plays a crucial part in the smooth operation and safety of the school on Saturdays. Acting as a role model, the successful candidate will demonstrate the school’s values of compassion, respect, perseverance, and inclusion while assisting teachers, students, and parents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Morning Setup & Facilities Management
● Set up classrooms before 8:45 am, ensuring tables, chairs, and furniture are
arranged correctly, and return them to their original positions afterwards.
● Ensure toilets are clean, stocked with supplies, and that stools are available for
young children. There is independent cleaning on site.
2. Support for Teachers & Administration
● Assist teachers with preparing learning materials, including setting up projectors and
carrying equipment.
● Manage office equipment: switch on photocopiers/printers, ensure adequate paper
supplies and photocopy materials for teachers as required.
3. Student Safety & Supervision
● Secure the school entrance during arrival and departure times to ensure safety.
● Participate in children supervision during lesson breaks and assist teachers during
dismissal.
● Escort children to the toilets during teaching hours when required.
4. General Operations & Security
● Register visitors and facilitate parent requests in line with school policies.
● Organise and assist with fire drills once per term in agreement with the Fire Officer.
● Support school celebrations, cultural events, and decorations.
● Ensure timely communication with the head teacher and school committee to
address any issues
Essential Skills & Qualifications
● Good command of both Greek and English.
● Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.
● Reliability, integrity, and enthusiasm for the role.
● Willingness to comply with school policies and procedures.
● Right to work in the UK (Pre-settled or Settled Status).
● Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding children certificate (the School will cover the

Desirable Experience
● Previous experience in working with children.
● Experience in customer service or working with people of different ages and needs.
● Ability to use technology effectively to support teachers.
