School Committee

The School is governed by the School Committee. The aims and objectives of the elected committee are to ensure the smooth running of the school, to assist the teaching staff, liaise with parents, organise and help with school events, festivals and fund raising.

The Committee is the recognised body responsible for the School’s finances, as well as its strategy and progress. It is made up of up to 13 members and meets regularly (at least twice per term) in order to execute School business. All members are required to attend meetings and take an active role in the running of the School. This means that they should be in a position to devote adequate time to the responsibilities involved. There is no financial compensation for Committee members.

The School Committee consists of members of the wider community of St. Athanasios Cambridge and parents of the school pupils. Additionally, the Parish Priest, the President of the Greek Community and the President of the St. Helena Ladies’ Auxiliary Committee are ex officio (non-voting) members. The Headteacher participates in the Committee as a non-voting representative of the teaching staff.
The Committee is elected every two years by the Annual General Meeting, to which the Committee reports.
