Greek Language Instructors Vacancy

The Greek School of St Athanasios, in Cambridge UK, is currently seeking highly motivated Greek Language Instructors to support a range of lessons in teaching the Greek language to pupils of 4-16 years old having Greek as a primary or secondary language.

This is a part-time hourly based position, mostly on Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The location is 154 Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge, CB1 7AJ.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and/or conduct small and/or large group Greek language classes using a wide variety of language teaching methodologies and techniques, with focus on speaking, listening comprehension, and reading skills.
  • Use established training materials and work collaboratively and closely with other instructors to create a lovely and happy learning environment.
  • Conduct informal or formal progress evaluations and administer quizzes and assessments to evaluate student progress as appropriate.
  • As needed, assist with the preparation and procedure of formal assessments of the Greek Language (Ministry of Education in Greece).

Required Qualifications

  • Having Greek language as primary language.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience teaching children/adult learners Greek language in a classroom setting (5 or more students).
  • BA/BS, MA/MS, or Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree(s) in any field related to language education from a Greek University.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching foreign language with proficiency-based or task- based curricula.
  • A minimum English proficiency level.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Greek as a foreign language preferred
  • Experience teaching with the communicative approach preferred
  • Experience incorporating a variety of educational technology in teaching preferred
  • Experience teaching blending learning activities valued

This position reports to the School Committee of the Greek School of St Athanasios.
